Imperial College London is pleased to offer a FREE primary event ‘Flying Atoms’ with various sessions taking place on Monday 30th October for Y4 pupils and Tuesday 31st October for Y5 pupils at Imperial College South Kensington campus (map here). This inter-disciplinary event will provide your students with a unique opportunity to explore the principles of physics through dance and theatre. The Flying Atoms show is a playful exploration of forces and matter to inspire curiosity and enable access to basic principles of physics for primary pupils. Interactive in design, the performance will wow young audiences with high-flying aerial dance, a magical soundtrack and stunning design.

Session 1 will include a visit to the Science Museum’s Wonderlab. Session 2 will include an interactive post-show workshop, enabling students to put into practice and experience for themselves some of the basic scientific principles they have seen in the show. After a fun physical warm-up, the group will be split into two for two interactive experiments. The first experiment will explore the solar system as students work together to launch planets into orbit. The second experiment will blend circus and science with plate spinning to see forces at work. The workshop ends with time for reflection and interaction with the show’s characters (all events for each session are mandatory).

We will be operating the following 2 sessions on BOTH Monday 30th and Tuesday 31st October 2017:
