Sinan Aral is the David Austin Professor of Management at the MIT Sloan School of Management, where he holds a joint appointment in the IT and Marketing groups and co-leads the Initiative on the Digital Economy.
He will be presenting the following research seminar:
“Peer Effects, Social Multipliers and Cascades of Human Behavior: Causal Inference at Scale
In this talk, I will survey empirical approaches to causal inference in networks and describe a series of large-scale randomized experiments and causal observational studies of peer influence to explore the behavioral dynamics catalyzed by peer effects or social spillovers in human behavior and opinion formation. I will discuss the public policy implications of peer effects for bias in online ratings, social advertising, human health interdependence and the ability to generate cascades of behavior through peer to peer influence in networks.”
One-to-Ones: If anyone would like a meeting with Sinan before the seminar (approx. 9:30-10:30) or at the end of the day (approx. 15:30-17:00), then please e-mail Sarah Otner(s.otner@imperial.ac.uk) to book.
