Alumni from the class of 1987 or earlier are invited to join us for an exclusive behind the scenes look at two of Imperial’s most iconic and intriguing landmarks in the first of our ‘Inside Imperial’ events, a chance to explore and rediscover Imperial.

Climb to the top of the Queen’s Tower, learn about the history of our best-known landmark and enjoy spectacular views over London before testing your skills in Imperial’s very own full-motion flight simulator.

287 feet tall and with panoramic views across London, the Queen’s Tower is at the heart of Imperial’s South Kensington Campus. The Tower is now all that remains of the Imperial Institute, which was built to mark Queen Victoria’s Golden Jubilee in 1887. Delve into the fascinating history of this landmark with our friendly and knowledgeable tour guides before admiring the technological prowess of our full motion flight simulator, used to investigate the handling qualities and performance of existing and future aircraft.

You’ll also have the chance to meet and reconnect with fellow alumni, all graduating 30+ years ago from Imperial, over a selection of tea and cakes.

Spaces are limited for this event, so register now to avoid disappointment. Tickets for this event are £10.

Please note: There are 324 steps in the Queen’s Tower and the space is narrow and cramped. This tour may not be suitable for those with breathing difficulties, ear/balance problems, heart problems, recent operations, joint or vision problems, claustrophobia, acrophobia or vertigo.  Suitable, flat shoes are required for this tour, and please note that the Tower is grubby in places due to the nature and age of the building, so clothes may become dirty.

Online registration for this event is now closed. Please email e.hider@imperial.ac.uk if you would like to attend.
