Aimed at Heads of Sciences and Science Teachers in the UK secondary schools and 6thform colleges, this free event aims to showcase the breadth of civil and environmental engineering and how the subject is taught in one of the world’s leading engineering departments. There will be hands-on science activities that can be taken away by attendees to inspire their students. This is also an opportunity to meet and network with Professor Nick Buenfeld, the Head of the Department, and some of our academic, teaching and administrative staff, as well as Departmental alumni.

The programme for the evening is:

  • Arrive from 17:00 to join us for tea/coffee
  • 17:30-17:35: Welcome (Prof Nick Buenfeld)
  • 17:35-17:45: Exciting careers in civil engineering (Departmental alumni)
  • 17:45-18:00: How we teach civil engineers (Dr Matthew Greetham)
