Seminar by Dr Heather Graven, (Department of Physics, Imperial College London).
Emissions of carbon dioxide from human activities are the primary cause of climate change, but we are presently enjoying a “50% discount” because the ocean and the plants and soils on land take up about half of our CO2 emissions. Climate change can affect the cycling of carbon between the atmosphere, ocean and land, potentially reducing this discount. I will describe some of the key questions about climate-carbon cycle interactions and plans to address them as part of the Coupled Model Intercomparison Project, CMIP6.
