The National Heart & Lung Institute is pleased to welcome Professor Barbara Casadei from Oxford University for our annual Athena Lecture to highlight lead female scientists and their work.
The talk will look at Barbara’s research and how her career has expanded, leading to her current posts as a Professor of Cardiovascular Medicine at the University of Oxford, Deputy Head of the Division of Cardiovascular Medicine, Honorary Consultant Cardiologist at the Oxford University Hospitals NHS Trust and Fellow of Wolfson College.
Professor Casadei’s work aims to understand nitric oxide (NO) and redox signalling in the healthy and diseased myocardium, and explore the hypothesis that targeting relevant sources of NO and reactive oxygen species may open new therapeutic avenues for cardiovascular disease.
There will be a drinks reception after the lecture from 17:00 onwards
