In September 2015, the Governor of the Bank of England spoke about the tragedy of the horizons, and the inability of the current financial system to take into account the long-term risks associated with climate change. He launched a programme of financial disclosures in relation to climate change at the Financial Stability Board (FSB), providing a solid base for investor decision-making in relation to climate change. Both his speech and the call for greater climate change transparency were important steps towards a more sustainable financial system.

This event will remind audiences of the long-term impacts that climate change can have on your assets and portfolios, explain the importance of corporate and investor disclosures on climate risks and assess what has been achieved in the past year. It will also provide some ideas of where future innovation is needed in sustainable investments in relation to climate. Finally, it will bring together the perspectives of asset managers and owners, academics and researchers in relation to climate and long-term sustainable investments.

The event is co-organised by Imperial College Business School and Grantham Institute – Climate Change and the Environment, at Imperial College London, and sponsored by Rockefeller & Co.
