Join us on Thursday 4th February for a special lecture with IGHI Visiting Professor Michel Mossessian who will deliver a lecture on Architecture and Wellbeing.

Michel is a world famous architect and designer who is the Design Principal at Mossessian Architecture, a firm he founded in 2005.  Mossessian Architecture has won bids to design numerous buildings around the world, including two buildings in London’s Kings Cross revitalisation project, over twenty buildings in the Msheireb Downtown Doha regeneration project in Doha, Qatar, and the Medina of Fes, Morocco, a UNESCO World Heritage site.

As health and wellbeing is increasingly being linked to the design and aesthetic of our environment, Michel’s unparalleled experience and authority in this very field will be an invaluable asset to IGHI’s work.  Our HELIX Centre for Design in Healthcare, which is already buoyed by its successful partnership between Imperial and the Royal College of Art, will particularly benefit immensely from Michel’s expertise.

Michel’s lecture will take place from 6-7pm on 4th February 2016 on the South Kensington campus in The Royal School of Mines, Room G20, and we would be delighted if you would join us.

We look forward to seeing you there.  Please note tickets will be reserved on a first come, first serve basis, so book now to avoid disappointment.

Consistently at the forefront of new approaches, Michel believes in design that creates engaging spaces to work, live and play. Michel leads all design processes at his practice; clients always deal directly with him. His interest in creative processes extends well beyond the practice of architecture: he has lectured widely at schools of architecture and cultural institutions, and has organised conferences and events to promote innovative approaches to design and cultural understanding.

Mossessian Architecture is an international, award-winning architecture practice. Their experienced team (including more than ten nationalities) is committed to architecture that adds cultural value and benefits society ‘beyond buildings’.

Michel Mossessian launched their practice in London in 2005, to focus on the demands of complex, high-density urban spaces. His design process is entirely collaborative, alert to the needs of clients and attentive to the requirements of all stakeholders.

His own experience heading design at SOM London involved high level projects in Chicago, New York, Paris, and London, including leading the design team that won the competition for the new NATO Headquarters in Brussels.

In 2008 the practice was invited to submit designs for Sheikha Mozah’s visionary project, the Msheireb Downtown Doha. After successfully designing phase 1b, Mossessian Architecture was invited to design a further 23 buildings and the main public square over four more phases.

In 2010 they won the open design competition for the prestigious urban renewal project Place Lalla Yeddouna in the Medina of Fez, Morocco, a UNESCO World Heritage site, the project is due for completion in 2016.

In 2014, in recognition of the practices sensitivity to interpret cultural values, the practice was invited by Sheikh Mohammed Bin Hamad Al Thani, Managing Director of the Supreme Committee for Delivery & Legacy to re-visit the main stadium for Q2022. Most recently they have won two key buildings on London’s King’s Cross site.

After 10 years in practice, Mossessian Architecture has completed major commissions in London and Shanghai. Over 30 international buildings will complete in 2016/17.
