Increased investment in renewables is crucial  to finance the transition to a low carbon economy. In this seminar, Helene Winch will focus on developments in proven renewable energy such as solar or wind and the  investment opportunities they provide.

Abstract

We know that increased investment is required to finance to transition to a low carbon economy.  Renewable Energy is now established as a ‘game changer’ for energy markets in both developed and developing economies and is material in many countries energy mix.  Renewable energy generation assets can also provide stable long term inflation linked cashflows for institutional investors such as insurance companies and pension schemes.

COP21 provided us with a strong Paris Agreement and we expect a significant focus on renewable energy during 2016. However various barriers to investment such as structural market issues and policy risks currently constrain the flow of capital, and  will need to be addressed.
