About the talk

The Universe and the idea that we’re not alone has captivated our imaginations for centuries. And while we’ve yet to discover life beyond Earth, this doesn’t stop us trying!

With several space missions to look for alien life planned for the near future, Astrobiologist Dr Zita Martins will take us on an exciting journey to help us get to know our Universe a little better.

This whistle stop tour through space and time will include a close look at different planets and moons across the solar system, alongside live demonstrations giving you the chance to hold extra-terrestrial samples and learn how to make your own comet.

The lecture is aimed at 11-16 year olds.

Principia Launch late (15 December)

Alongside these two space-related events, researchers from Imperial are joining space scientists from around the UK to celebrate the launch of the European Space Agency’s Principia mission to the International Space Station, which will feature British astronaut Tim Peake. The event, at the Science Museum, is an extension of the series of monthly lates, providing unique opportunities to ask questions of the researchers leading Britain’s space exploration.
