John Henderson, Professor of Paediatrics, University of Bristol and co-Director of the Avon Longitudinal Study of Parents and Children (ALSPAC) will talk about lung growth in children (over 10,000 children born in the early 1990’s and currently being assessed in their mid-20’s).

Nicole Probst, Professor of Public Health, Head of Chronic Disease Epidemiology and PI for the Swiss study on Air Pollution and Lung Disease In Adults (SAPALDIA) at the Swiss Tropical and Public Health Institute will describe how air pollution may affect the aging lungs and heart, based on observations of over 8000 adults recruited in the early 1990’s and followed up to the present day.

Both speakers are partners within the new EU-funded H2020 project ‘Aging Lungs in European Cohorts (ALEC)’ being coordinated from the NHLI.
