A biochemist and glycoscientist, Jerry Turnbull and his team have pioneered studies on the structure-activity relationships of the heparan sulphate family of complex polysaccharides in development and disease. This work has involved development of glycomics and chemical biology tools, and led to translational research on drug discovery for Alzheimer’s disease and cancer, and potential therapeutic interventions for nerve repair.
