The Imperial College Club of Germany (ICCG) are pleased to announce a very special alumni weekend conference on the theme of ‘Sustainability in the 21st Century’ at CERN in Geneva, Switzerland. 

This event will be one of the last opportunities to visit the underground areas of the research facilitiy before they are closed to the public for three years later this autumn.

It will also be a unique opportunity to be hear more about the research that takes place at CERN from leading Imperial experts, including Professor Sir Tejinder (Jim) Virdee FRS.

Conference highlights

  • Keynote lecture on Imperial research at CERN by Professor Sir Tejinder (Jim) Virdee FRS, recently knighted in the Queen’s Birthday Honours, for his research on the Higgs boson
  • Guided tours of the underground research facilities led by Imperial researchers, including a visit to the Large Hadron Collider (LHC)
  • Guest speakers on the theme of how basic reseach at CERN and elsewhere is translating into innovations for a more sustainable future

Places are limited, so please book now to avoid disappointment.

The conference fee is €25 for members of ICCG and €50 for non-members (membership costs €25) and covers the costs of a light buffet lunch and drinks reception on Saturday 11 October. You are welcome to register up to two guests over the age of 18.

You can also reserve your place for drinks on Friday evening, a group dinner on Saturday and a boat trip and lunch on Sunday morning (to be paid separately).

Accommodation and logistics

CERN is only a short distance away from the centre of Geneva and easily accessible by public transport. Further information regarding hotel options will be available shortly.
