All health systems face the challenge of organising the safe and sufficient supply of blood products and organs for transplantation. Lynda Hamlyn CBE, Chief Executive, NHS Blood and Transplant will present on the complex issues surrounding human organ and tissue donation; the management of the blood supply chain; practical and ethical considerations; quality assurance and the regulatory environment. Lynda Hamlyn is Chief Executive of a UK wide organisation overseeing blood, stem cells, tissues and organ donation. She is on the Executive of the European Blood Alliance (made up of 25 countries) and an active member of the Alliance of major Blood Operators, so she will be able to bring both national and international perspectives to this presentation. Lynda was recently made the Health Service Journal’s NHS Chief Executive of the Year and has also recently been honoured with a CBE.
