NASA Deputy Technologist, Jim Adams, and NASA Chief Scientist, Ellen Stofan, are making a special trip to Imperial College London on the afternoon of  Wednesday 14 May 2014. They will be giving two inspiring talks for schools on what it’s like to work in the exciting field of space science.

Imperial has an exciting history of space travel. In 1984 former engineering student Marc Garneau became the first Canadian in space, aboard Space Shuttle Challenger mission STS-41G.

More recently, some of our undergraduate students saw their experiments literally take off when they hitched a ride into space on small cube satellites known as ‘CubeSats’, with the aim of studying space weather. A further mission is also planned in 2015.

There’s lots going on at the College for students who are interested in space science. We hope that this afternoon with NASA will inspire students to start considering the many opportunities connected to the exploration of space.

The talks will be as follows:

13.00–13.45  Jim Adams, NASA Deputy Technologist

14.00–14.45  Ellen Stofan, NASA Chief Scientist

If you or your school would like to attend either of the talks please contact Lorna Hale at l.hale@imperial.ac.uk
