‘How to make an electricity business sustainable’
Professor Green’s Inaugural Lecture will discuss the UK’s approach to reducing carbon emissions. Currently based on massive investment in low-carbon electricity over the next two decades, followed by a move to replace oil and gas with electricity in transport and heating, how will this low-carbon electricity industry work in economic terms?
Professor Green will explore this issue from several perspectives, asking the questions: What investments are needed? Can a mix of market prices and government policies make those investments attractive to electricity companies? And finally, how can we keep down the cost to consumers?
