A workshop on Solar Photovoltaics for off-grid electricity access in rural India
Researchers at Imperial College London have developed a model to estimate the life cycle emissions and cost of different solar photovoltaic (PV) technologies for electricity generation in rural, off-grid settings in India. For more information please read the project overview.
As part of the project we are organising a one-day workshop at the Indian Institute of Science (IISc) in Bangalore, with participants from academia, business, NGOs and government, in order to present the model, discuss its implications and gain valuable feedback on how it can be further developed.
Programme
- 11:00-11:30 Introduction to the workshop, introduction of participants
- 11:30-12:15 Presentation of model and findings
- 12:15-13:00 Feedback discussion on the model and methodology
- 13:00-14:00 Lunch
- 14:00-15:30 Presentations on technical, economic and policy challenges to implement solar PV in rural India
- 15:30-16:30 Discussion to review and consolidate key points from presentations
- 16:30-17:00 Discussion of next steps
- 17:00-18:00 Networking reception
