Dr Simon Foster, Outreach officer for the Physics department at Imperial College London, spoke at the Shambala music festival. Simon gave a talk and workshop on the history of rocket science.
Shambala is a family orientated festival which is held in the Midlands. The festival has a large kids area, lots of workshops, woodland fun, carnivals, roaming theatrics, and everyone dresses in fancy dress.
As well as presenting a talk on rocket science, Simon also took part in the ‘particle safari’, where the festival site was turned into the large hadron collider with particles, played by guerrilla science volunteers being hidden at various locations. Simon acted as the Higgs Boson!
Simon’s talk is available on youtube.
