Abstract: In this introductory talk, we will discuss the simplest random matrix ensembles, Gaussian and Circular Unitary Ensembles and their correlation functions. The correlation functions provide a connection to Toeplitz, Hankel, and Fredholm determinants. We will briefly review some interesting related problems.
