On behalf of the Imperial College Club of Germany e.V. (ICCG), we are delighted to invite you to their annual conference, held in conjuction with the MIT Club of Germany which will be taking place between Friday 7 October and Sunday 9 October 2011 in Brussels, Belgium.

The theme of this year’s conference is Sustainable living in the 21st century.

Programme

With a welcome introduction from His Excellency, The British Ambassador in Brussels, Mr Jonathan Brenton, the weekend will conists of a series of  lectures and social activities. Confirmed keynote speakers include Professor James Barber FRS, Ernst Chain Professor of Biochemistry, Division of Molecular Biosciences, Imperial College London who will be delivering a lecture entitled ‘Can we build an artificial leaf to convert solar energy into fuel?’ , Dr. Serge Simon, REACH Project Manager, Total Petrochemicals Research Feluy, who will explain the idea behind the revolution in plastics in his talk entitled ‘Sustainability of Plastics and Bio plastics’ and Professor Hendrik FEHR, former European Court of Auditors who will discuss Sustainability as a priority issue in EU funding.

An Imperial College Club of Germany meeting would not be the same without an ample dose of culture as well. In addition to the impressive line up of talks you will be able to enjoy a beer tasting session of the local Brussels beers guided by Chris Bourne in the Brussels Old City Centre, as well as a guided city tour of the Old Palace on the Sunday morning.
