Imperial College London programme:
14.30 – 16.00 Techtonics
The Techtonics are an all-male vocal group, singing a variety of their own arrangements of well-known (and some less well-known) rock and pop songs, with one or two off-the-wall comedy numbers for good measures.
The group was started in the summer of 2008 by Christian Carter and Ed Brightman, who jointly lamented the lack of quality contemporary a cappella at Imperial and decided to start an all-male group. after recruiting ten more unwitting souls the group quickly made a name for themselves at Imperial, and in one year they have taken the Imperial Arts Fest by storm, coming sceond in Imperial Idol in Summer 2009, and featuring in the musical line-up at Imperial’s Summer Ball alongside Athlete and Noel Fielding.
16.00 – 16.30 Percussion Club
Trash percussion is where groups work together on routines which include elements of percussion, dance and musical theatre.
16.30 – 17.00 Dance Company
The Dance Company is a platform for beginners to explore the world of contemporary dance, ballet and tap, as well as for dancers of any level to improve on stamina and technique. However, first and foremost it is the opportunity to have fun and to perform onstage in some on Imperial’s biggest staged events including; East Meets West, Arts Festival and International Night.
They have had great successes at annual dance competitions such as those hosted by Edinburgh and Loughborough Universities.
17.00 – 18.00 Capoeira
Our world of capoeira…
Capoeira is a martial art developed by African slaves in Brazil during the 16th Century. In Capoeira, two capoeiristas partake in a game of body-dialogue, exchanging movements of attack and defence in ritualised combat to the rhythm of the berimbau. It is a very fluid and dynamic art, combining elements of self-defence and acrobatics giving a complete experience providing a powerful and sensational work out. it is an excellent cardio-vascular practice allowing one to keep fit while having fun.
All performances will take place in the College Main Entrance.
