An Alumni of the College, Tim has experienced a diversified career following his departure from Imperial in 1968.

Whilst leaving with an Honours degree in Chemical Engineering, he decided to extend his period of education by entering into Articles with a City Firm of Accountants, as he says, to widen his knowledge of business prior to deciding the career course he wanted to follow. He felt that this move would allow him to see the inside of various businesses; and another three years of bookwork leading to a formal qualification would be a reasonable price to pay.

From there he had a successful career in Commerce followed by a long period in the Private Equity markets working for a couple of Merchant Banks where he cut his teeth in the Venture Capital field.

A series of senior directorships in various SME’s, one quoted on the LSE, “thickened his skin” and allowed him to firm up on his negotiation skills. A brief inter regnum as a self employed consultant was rudely terminated when he accepted the role of FD of his current company a noted international engineering consultancy. In this role he is thoroughly enjoying encouraging the process of “Change” in this third generation business.

He joins us with the intention of demonstrating some of the pros and cons of his career and will be happy to answer any questions after a short presentation.

Tea, coffee, juice, and pastries will be provided.
