Drawing of the original crystal palace for the 1851 Great Exhibition

As part of the Great Exhibition Road Festival, The Royal Parks will take you back in time to explore the extraordinary building that housed the Great Exhibition in 1851 – Hyde Park’s Crystal Palace.

Learn about what it took to engineer a structure of its kind and walk inside (virtually) to discover its enormous legacy. You will also explore the adjacent Albert Memorial with Blue Badge Guide and Lecturer for The Arts Society, Barbara Askew.

Barbara will reveal the details of the artwork like the Frieze of Parnassus, along with the complications and strife in completing this stunning memorial.
