This week at College Evensong we have music for Ash Wednesday and the start of the reflective and penitential season of Lent. A highlight of this service will be the well know anthem Allegri’s Miserere. During the singing there will be an opportunity to receive the sign of the cross in Ash, a traditional way of beginning Lent.

We also have Orlando Gibbon’s anthem ‘Drop, Drop Slow Tears’ as well as medieval Gregorian plainsong.

The music for the psalm of the day is composed by Pallav Bagchi, one our of current students.

You can engage with the service in your own way.  We know that people of different faith traditions and world views find Choral Evensong a welcoming meditative time.

Evensong is open to all members of the Imperial, the RCA and RCM, alumni, and the public. The service happens every two weeks in term-time.
