students participating in a workshop

Join us on 17th May for an evening workshop that will explore the dark side of digital, data and AI. You’ll use your creativity and critical thinking to work in teams to identify problems and create solutions that solve some of the negative consequences of digital, data and AI – no technical skills are required!

Hear from Professor Mark Kennedy the Director of the Data Science Institute at Imperial, and Enterprise Lab startup founders who will help to contextualise the challenge. You will with work with Hattie Willis, former Associate Principal of Rainmaking Venture Studio, founder of GuessWorks, and experienced facilitator, to guide you through the process of generating, choosing and finally pitching your idea. You’ll see first-hand how innovation and entrepreneurship work together. And as an extra incentive, we’ll be awarding prizes for the best idea and best pitch.

0-X is a cutting-edge design contest organised by Imperial College’s Data Science Institute in collaboration with the Dyson School of Engineering, Imperial-I-X and the Business School, aiming to ‘zero-out’ the negative side effects of the modern digital and data world by finding creative solutions to the most pressing, unanticipated problems in tech.

0-X is a contest to inspire technology for good. Apply your scientific knowledge, technical know-how, and creativity to propose a technology (including business model if relevant) that zeroes out a pernicious and unanticipated negative side-effect (externalities) for all things digital, data, and AI. To put it bluntly, show your stuff by fixing something that positively makes you seethe!

You will find out more about 0-X and the wider contest on the 17 May.

This years Idea Challenge will be held in person and spaces are limited so sign up today to avoid missing out!
