Deputy Mayor for Business, Rajesh Agrawal will be present at the event to help celebrate and recognise the remarkable achievements of cleantech innovators and encourage and inspire new innovators to join Better Futures in our collective mission to combat the climate and ecological emergency.
The Better Futures programme targets London Cleantech SMEs aiming to innovate and reduce greenhouse gas emissions. It also supports non-climate tech SMEs in adopting low-carbon practices. This initiative offers three pathways: scaling, innovation in the built environment, and decarbonisation. It will look to support start-ups in the built environment, responsible for 40% of the UK’s emissions, provide R&D guidance, investment readiness, commercialisation support, and sustainable business assistance.
London’s Low Carbon and Environmental Goods and Services sector, valued at £50 billion in 2019/20, declined to £43 billion in 2020/21 due to the pandemic but is expected to grow post-pandemic. Better Futures-supported innovations are crucial for London’s aim to achieve net-zero carbon by 2030 and help to continue to grow the sector.
This networking event offers a unique opportunity to connect with London’s SMEs that are on a Net Zero pathway, alongside cleantech innovators, startups, and past participants. We’ll highlight these businesses’ pivotal roles in achieving Zero Net by 2030.
The event takes place at Sustainable Ventures, County Hall, showcasing Europe’s largest cluster of cleantech startups.
