Passiontide Meditation
A reflective service of music and readings retelling events from the last week of Jesus’ life.
The music includes, ‘Crux Fidelis’ by Sarah MacDonald based on words by Emelia Lanier and Emily Dickinson,
‘The Reproaches’ by John Sanders, Bob Chilcott’s setting of ‘Where you there?’
as well as Thomas Weelkes ‘Hosannah to the son of David’ and ‘Ubi Caritas’ by Maurice Durufle.
College Evensong is sung by Imperial’s student Chamber Choir. It is an ancient pattern of evening prayer combining music, words, and silence to create a time for personal reflection and stillness (whatever your faith or worldview). The services regularly use music written by current students and women composers.
