2024 marked another year where the global burden of malaria remained largely unchanged. However, we are now at a significant milestone as the first two malaria vaccines are rolled out at scale across sub-Saharan Africa. Preventive treatment is also reaching more children than ever before. In this seminar, we will explore the latest insights into the impact of drugs and vaccines, their achievements to date, and their potential for the future. We will also examine recent data shedding light on the elusive burden of severe malaria and malaria-related mortality.
