How to write an Impactful Scientific Article

A crucial part of the current scientific endeavor is to be able to effectively communicate scientific discoveries to the academic community, among others, via scientific articles. Yet, this continues to be a bottleneck in the scientific production, especially among early-stage researchers. In this talk, we will explore common pitfalls and practical tips to make the article writing stage less daunting. Some of the topics that will be explored include: the structure of a scientific article, markers of quality for editors and reviewers, novelty and impact.

Dr Elisa Collado Fregoso is an Energy professional currently working as Knowledge Exchange Officer at the Energy Futures lab at Imperial College London where she is responsible for amplifying the impact of Energy research at Imperial by linking scientists with industry and policy representatives and more specifically by increasing the reach of Energy Future Lab’s Briefing papers.

She was previously a Scientific Editor at Cell Press and Springer Nature. She obtained her Ph.D. in Spectroscopy of Organic solar cells at Imperial College London and has two years of Postdoctoral experience which she accomplished at Potsdam University in Germany. She is a co-author of 20 research papers and has edited hundreds of scientific articles.
