The value of your work is no longer just about the journal in which you publish your paper. Instead, it includes openness about methods, data, code, analyses and peer review. By understanding how Open Research is changing the culture in which research is conducted and communicated, you will be equipped with the confidence and skills to benefit from it.

As part of this cultural shift, research publishing models are changing and more authors are sharing preprints ahead of journal submission. New types of peer review offer different levels of transparency to authors, reviewers and readers. Funders are responding with new preprint policies for immediate open access to research outputs and including specific sections in Fellowship applications.

In this workshop, Postdocs and Fellows will learn about the principles, practices and benefits of Open Research, including publishing methods, peer review systems and innovative open models. We will discuss the advantages and disadvantages of the different models and the practical steps you need to take before posting a preprint or submitting to an open peer review journal. We will discuss how you can use preprints responsibly and explore the future of Open Research.
