The Design Make and Test project is a major part of the Mechanical Engineering curriculum, and is a year-long engineering design project carried out by groups of third year students in the Department of Mechanical Engineering.
The groups run their project as a small engineering consultancy. Students are given a brief for a sub-assembly of a larger project and must develop ideas, develop concepts, then build and test a final prototype product. Further to this, each sub-assembly must be compatible with the other sub-assemblies in that project.
The final task during the year is to present this project at the DMT exhibition, which this year will be taking place between 16.00 and 18.00 on Tuesday 10th June, in the College Main Entrance and the CAGB Foyer. All are welcome to come and see what our students are capable of, and to talk to them about the work they have been doing. This is an exciting event and it is a great opportunity to experience how enthusiastic our students are about their work.
