Event details:
In celebration of International Women in Engineering Day (INWED), the Department of Bioengineering is proud to present a special panel event that highlights the voices of women who are driving innovation, breaking boundaries, and shaping the future of engineering.
The event, titled “Celebrating Women Who Engineer Change,” features a diverse group of women at various stages of their careers, from PhD students to senior researchers, representing a wide range of experiences, insights, and impacts.
Join us for an engaging and candid discussion about career journeys, identity, resilience, and the future of engineering. This is a unique opportunity to hear directly from women who are designing solutions, challenging norms, and inspiring the next generation of engineers.
After the one-hour panel event in RSM 2.28, speed networking with food and drinks will take place in RSM 3.01C. You’ll have the chance to connect with our brilliant speakers and mingle with colleagues across Bioengineering and the wider Imperial community in a fun, informal setting.
Meet the panel:
- Miss Sânziana Foia: PhD researcher and founder of Papcup, revolutionising reproductive health with a non-invasive, at-home alternative to cervical screening.
- Dr Parry Hashemi: Reader in Brain Diagnostics and Therapeutics, developing real-time tools to monitor neurotransmitters and advocating for inclusion in STEM.
- Dr Alicia Graham: Synthetic biologist and founder of MadeSweetly, using protein-based science to transform how we produce and consume sugar sustainably.
- Dr Luana Osório: Developmental and vascular biology specialist, designing organ-on-a-chip platforms to advance research into cancer and diabetes.
- Dr Brenna Parke (panel chair): Electroanalytical engineer developing cutting-edge sensing technologies for neuroscience and women’s health, including tools to predict premature birth.
