Non-communicable diseases (NCDs) continue to account for over 70% of global deaths, with the burden disproportionately affecting low- and middle-income countries.  Progress on NCDs is happening around the world but is off track, despite early commitments and increased global attention.

As the international community approaches the final few years of the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development and evolves beyond the current Sustainable Development Goals framework, NCDs must be recognised as a long-term development and equity priority requiring sustained and integrated action. The discussion will centre around what has generated versus held back progress on NCDs, and how the global community can renew and advance the integration of NCDs into the health systems agenda.

This event also marks the publication of a new report by NCD Countdown 2030 on benchmarking progress on NCDs, providing timely insights into country-level progress and comparative performance.
