Talk title: Getting old – the effect of cell senescence on atherosclerosis and vessel ageing

Short Bio:

 Professor Bennett is the British Heart Foundation (BHF) Professor of Cardiovascular Sciences and Honorary Consultant Cardiologist at Cambridge University and Royal Papworth Hospitals. He directs the £5M BHF Cambridge Centre for Research Excellence, the Cambridge Cardiovascular Interdisciplinary Research Centre, and is Cardiorespiratory Theme Lead for the NIHR Biomedical Research Centre. His major research interest is the vascular biology of atherosclerosis, particularly the role of vascular smooth muscle cell proliferation, death and cell senescence. His clinical research programme examines how invasive and non-invasive coronary artery imaging can identify vulnerable plaques, including using AI-based diagnosis for risk prediction and accelerating drug development.
