We are delighted to invite you to the launch of two new volumes from the Yearbook of the Research Centre for German & Austrian Exile Studies (EXILE).

The event will be hosted by CLCC colleagues, Professor Charmian Brinson and Dr Anna Nyburg, who are members of EXILE and authors of Yearbook Volume 24. Joining them to launch the two volumes will be Dr Andrea Hammel and Dr Stephanie Homer, authors of Yearbook Volume 23.
The work of the Research Centre for German & Austrian Exile Studies (EXILE) focuses on the history of German-speaking émigrés who found refuge in Britain, their personal recollections and experiences, their reception in British society, and their enrichment of the life of their new country of residence in such varied spheres as the professions. The Centre organises conferences and publishes their proceedings, has a programme of research seminars and an archive housing papers of exiles from Germany and Austria in the 1930s. EXILE members are drawn from a variety of disciplines, and comprise academic staff at universities throughout the UK who disseminate their research with publishing houses both in the UK and the German-speaking countries.
The volumes being launched at the event are:
- Volume 23: The Second and Third Generations: The Legacy of Forced Migration from Nazi Europe
Edited by Andrea Hammel and Stephanie Homer - Volume 24: The Refugees from Nazism to Britain in Trade, Industry and Engineering
Edited by Anna Nyburg and Charmian Brinson
The launch event will include an introduction to the works, short speeches from the authors, Q & A and light refreshments.
