In the second Friday Forum of the year we debate the issue of animal experimentation, and in particular examine ideas about openness and transparency. How can we best engage the public in arguments about the value of the animal model, and publicise better the 3Rs agenda of ‘replacement, reduction and refinement’? How can we take into account both the legitimate privacy of the scientific project and the necessity also for the work of science to have public assent? What actually are the contemporary uses of animals in science, and how is this use changing over time?
Join our panel drawn from College staff and from outside agencies. All Friday Forums include lunch, are in-person only, and include lunch. The actual discussion runs from 13:00-14:00, with half that time taken with audience Q and A. Friday Forums are excellent ways to step back from the busy working day, gain new perspectives, and meet new people from across the College.
