Premiere screening of the Good Science Project’s animated film ‘I Scientist’
All are invited to the premiere screening of our animated film ‘I Scientist’. Working throughout 2025 a group of Imperial scientists and students collaborated on a 15-minute animation that captures the working life of the scientist, with all its hurdles and joys. Our animator-in-residence Litza Jansz co-ordinated the workshops and brought the work to its impressive fruition. The film’s artwork was prepared by the scientists and expresses various elements of the ‘life scientific’: the reasons we went into science; the pleasures and the foundations of a ‘good day in science’; the hurdles to success; and the maintenance of the work-life balance. Beautiful, intriguing and witty, I Scientist is a highly unusual representation of science in action. Recommended!
The premiere screening will include a discussion with Litza and participants, where we look at how the animation was made and discuss how art can explore and express the often-hidden world of scientific practice. We will be asking: what are the boundaries between science and other areas of culture?
The premiere is followed by a reception where you can meet the ’scientist-artists’ and catch up on the latest activities of the Good Science Project.
