Ella Marushchenko is the Art Director and Founder of Ella Maru Studio, a scientific visualization studio specializing in journal covers, figures, and animations for researchers and industry professionals. Her work has been featured on over 2,000 scientific journal covers, including Nature, Science, and Cell.

In this seminar, she will share practical tips for making research visuals clearer and easier to understand: how to simplify withou

t losing meaning, how to structure a figure so the main message is obvious, and how to handle labels, fonts, color, and resolution. She will also discuss software that scientists can use to develop their own figures and cover images, including common vector and 3D tools and when each is the best choice. The talk includes real examples from collaborations with scientists, including a step-by-step walkthrough of how a cover image is developed from the first sketch to the final published cover.
