On the response of cells to rich environmental driving

How cells respond to their complex environment under real-world conditions is an open question. In this talk I will discuss examples of molecular circuits and biological processes that enable cells to cope with both time-dependent and multidimensional external inputs. To that end, I will use (i) general models of protein circuits, and (ii) experimental observations in bacterial spores. The phenomena discussed will include learning, memory and signal integration.
