Every spring, we are proud to showcase a selection of work from the Innovation Design Engineering (IDE) Programme delivered jointly by the Dyson School of Design Engineering and the Royal College of Art. For over 45 years, IDE has pioneered a unique approach that combines science and technology with design and creativity.
The exhibition features works by both first- and second-year students in the programme. The majority of the exhibition features work from the iconic first-year Supergreen project, where research into regenerative materials leads to creative explorations of designs for furniture, footwear, food utensils and fashion.
Materials exploration and innovation are embedded in the DNA of the IDE programme. This focus has led to a number of high-profile material-led spinouts, including Notpla, Shellworks, Pulpatronics, Polyfloss and many others.
