Children’s hospices are a vital part of paediatric healthcare. As an active and total approach to care they provide support from point of diagnosis, throughout a child’s life, to death and beyond. Children’s hospices embrace the physical, emotional, social and spiritual elements of a child and focus on improving the quality of life of everyone involved.
However there is a chronic lack of them globally. The demand is high yet hospitals and other organisations have limited resources and capability to offer holistic care required for children, young people and families. As a leader in healthcare innovation, IGHI has identified many opportunities to research and translate evidence-based solutions that can better support children, families and professionals.
In this Institute of Global Health Innovation Forum, we will gather a wide range of expertise, experience and insight into the current challenges, needs and opportunities in developing new children’s hospice care. Taking both national and international perspectives, the Forum will demonstrate how human needs can be supported through research and innovation.
