Professor Jim Naismith trained as a chemist at the University of Edinburgh before getting a PhD from Manchester. He spenr two years in the Steve Sprang Labbefore starting an independent position at St Andrews in 95.
He left St Andrews in 2017 to move to Oxford where he is Professor of Structural Biology, Director of the Research Complex at Harwell and Director Designate of the Rosalind Franklin Institute. His work has focussed on the chemistry of natural product biosynthesis
