Bare Conductive began as an Industrial Design Engineering student project at the Royal College of Art / Imperial College and has grown to a printed electronics powerhouse, powering a community of fanatical users and major corporations like IKEA. Unlike any other printed electronics company, Bare Conductive has put the technology into users hands to discover applications, technical insights and unexpected opportunities. It’s core products, Electric Paint, and the Touch Board make it possible for anyone to transform surfaces and spaces into interactive environments. Consumers are prototyping interactive walls and companies are prototyping the interactive home. But Bare Conductive’s story is about more than just technological capability; it’s about grappling with the curse of the technology startup – what do you do when you have a solution looking for a problem? In Design Engineering’s June Lecture, Matt will take us through the transition from project to product and from potential to profit.

Matt Johnson is CEO and co-founder of Bare Conductive. After studying economics, building race cars and riding his motorcycle around the world, Matt moved to London from the US in 2007 to study Industrial Design Engineering at the Royal College of Art / Imperial College. With a degree in hand, he co-founded Bare Conductive and has been on a wild printed electronics journey ever since.
