  • William Makant (Full-Time MBA, Imperial College Business School, 2008) – Co-Founder & CEO, Plumis

William is a mechanical engineer from Brazil and worked 8 years at Ford on engine combustion development before doing his Full-Time MBA at Imperial in 2008. He founded Plumis with 2 RCA designers at the back of a business plan competition and has since been its CEO. Plumis designs and manufactures residential fire suppression products and was founded on a simple idea: to offer a retrofittable alternative to the fire sprinkler into ordinary homes.

  • Andrew Owens (BEng Chemical Engineering, Faculty of Engineering, 1984) – Chief Executive, Greenergy

Andrew co-founded Greenergy in 1992 and has led the company from a bedroom start-up to one of the UK’s largest privately-owned companies. Today Greenergy is a leading provider of road fuels, selling nearly 20 billion litres of petrol, diesel and biofuel annually – enough to fuel one in three vehicles in Britain. Expanding internationally, its fuel supply businesses in Canada and Brazil delivered sales growth exceeding 100% in FY17. Andrew has a Chemical Engineering degree from Imperial and retains links with the College’s Business School, where he has lectured on entrepreneurship. Andrew started his career at Esso, initially as design engineer at the Fawley refinery and later moving to London to take responsibility for refinery economics. After leaving Esso, Andrew held a number of commercial and trading positions in the oil industry in Belgium and Switzerland before setting up Greenergy as a “proper job avoidance strategy”.

  • Christina Peterson (MSc Innovation Design Engineering, Faculty of Engineering, 2016) – Founder & CEO, LYS Technologies Ltd

Coming from a multidisciplinary background of fashion, design and engineering, Christina Petersen is determined to raise global awareness of circadian rhythm disruption. With a dual Master’s in Innovation Design Engineering from Imperial College London and the Royal College of Art, Petersen is now Founder and CEO of LYS Technologies, a light research and innovation company working with wearable technology to improve and change the indoor generation’s relationship with the light.
