The Career Progression Working Group is part of the School of Public Health People & Culture Committee. Our purpose is to improve career development opportunities and support across the School, making sure that all staff feel able to progress in their careers and access the resources they need.
Current priorities
We are currently focusing on two main priorities:
- Improving career planning and development support for Professional, Technical, and Operational staff (PTO) – including mentoring, shadowing, training opportunities, and greater visibility of career pathways
- Better support for Early Career Researchers (ECRs) in partnership with Imperial's award-winning Early-Career Researcher Institute (ECRI) – including mentoring, onboarding, networking, and access to professional development activities
The group is co-led by Dr Elisa Pineda and Dr Diana Varaden (representing Research staff) and Dimimu Onanuga (representing Professional, Technical and Operational staff). We work closely with colleagues across the School to make sure actions are inclusive, effective, and informed by staff feedback.
By developing mentoring schemes, creating networking opportunities, and improving communication about career development, the group aims to build a supportive culture where all staff can thrive.
