The Communications and Engagement Working Group is part of the School of Public Health People & Culture Committee. Our purpose is to increase a sense of community and awareness across the School and with the local community.
Current priorities
- Inform, with a focus on internal communications. The move to our new home in White City has created a great opportunity to encourage new cross-division work and to stimulate new collaborations across the School. One priority area is the implementation of initiatives to improve senior SPH leadership engagement, support and involvement with research culture for all staff. Since summer 2025, we have introduced “town hall” conversations where colleagues across the School can ask questions to the Director of the School and senior colleagues.
- Connect, with a focus on campus-wide interactions. We aim to consolidate a genuine sense of belonging at Imperial and across SPH by creating more chances to meet, network and collaborate across Departments and Faculties, including through social events and seminars.
- Engage with a focus on local communities. We are committed to strengthening public engagement across SPH by showcasing activities which connect our research and teaching through pop-ups, community partnerships and school outreach activities.
The group is led by Dr Sabine van Elsland and works with colleagues across SPH to ensure our actions are inclusive, collaborative, and impactful.
