This project seeks to develop air quality sensors specifically for use in subway environments.
We are collaborating with Transport for London (TfL), RATP in Paris and three air quality monitoring suppliers to develop air quality sensor to ensure they are suitable for the subsurface environment.
This project is partially funded by EIT Urban Mobility and is seeking to improve air quality on the London Underground and the Paris Metro. Improving subway air quality is becoming increasingly a focused activity for other subways systems around the world. Whilst there is extensive knowledge and understanding of surface level Particulate Matter (PM), less is known about the type of PM found in subway environments. This project seeks to improve understanding in this area by trialling new, innovation air quality monitoring on the London Underground and Paris Metro networks.
