Biography
Nikki is Professor of Perinatal Neuroscience at UCL, working also as consultant neonatologist at UCLH. For over 20 years at UCL, Nikki has led the preclinical development of new therapies for HIE. Of the therapies studied, melatonin, mesenchymal stromal cells and remote ischaemic conditioning are the most promising and are moving into early phase clinical trials. Nikki works on developing new biomarkers of injury, in particular MR spectroscopy, to help speed up clinical translation.
