REACT partnership with the Dementia Trials Accelerator
The REACT investigators and the REACT Participant Advisory Group have worked closely with the Dementia Trials Accelerator (DTA) team to design a new initiative which connects people with researchers running studies to prevent, slow or treat dementia. The DTA is run by Health Data Research UK (HDR UK) and the UK Dementia Research Institute (UK DRI) in collaboration with Imperial College London, and is funded by the Medical Research Council, which supports science and health research in the UK.
Starting in February 2026, REACT Study participants between the ages of 50 and 90 may be invited to join the DTA. The project team hopes to enrol participants from a wide range of backgrounds and life experiences. It is entirely up to you whether you decide to participate in the DTA. If you choose not to join, it will not affect your participation in the REACT Study or any future research opportunities you might be invited to as a member of the REACT study.
To take part, please follow the instructions in your email invitation.
What is involved?
- Complete an online registration form (about 40 minutes)
This includes a short questionnaire and test of your memory and thinking skills.
- Book an in-person appointment near you
You can choose a time and location that suits you.
- Attend the appointment (about 30–40 minutes)
During this visit, you will:
- Have your height, weight, and blood pressure measured
- Complete a further, short test of your memory and thinking skills
- Provide a blood sample.
What feedback will I receive?
- Results from your online memory and thinking test and, if you wish, how your results compare to others
- Your weight, height, blood pressure and what they mean for your brain health
- Guidance on maintaining your brain health
Following your appointment, if you are eligible for a future research study, you will be contacted by the DTA with further information.
Your de-identified data and samples will also be securely stored to be used by researchers studying causes and risks of brain illness. Researchers will be required to request permission from the DTA to access and use this data for their research.
If you have received an email invitation from react.study@imperial.ac.uk, our records show that you have previously participated in a REACT Study, gave us permission to contact you about future research opportunities, and are currently between 50 and 90 years old.
Invitations will be sent out based on how close you live to local assessment centres, which will move around the country. Invites are based on your last known address. If you need to update your contact details please do so here.
More information can be found in the DTA participant information sheet: DTA PIS_v2.1
