To provide senior leadership in the development and implementation of CEP’s strategy, while responding to strategic or policy developments within the wider Faculty and University, and assessing their impact on CEP’s objectives. Responsible for the long-term sustainability of CEP, ensuring plans are in place to support growth and academic excellence.

Research Committee

Research Committee

The committee is responsible for developing and overseeing strategies to enhance research performance, support, and culture within the Department. This includes monitoring key research metrics, promoting collaboration and commercialisation, supporting researchers’ development, and ensuring compliance with ethical standards. It also aims to foster diversity, international engagement, and interdisciplinary research aligned with institutional and global priorities.

Communications Committee

Communications Committee

To enhance digital services, oversee the website, enhance internal communication by maintaining an open, accessible list of achievements and examples of equity, diversity and inclusion, and to help CEP develop better visibility through social media, interactions with major media, MOOCs, open lectures/courses, recorded/online seminars.

Health & Safety Committee

Health & Safety Committee 

The Health and Safety Committee oversees the promotion of a safe and compliant working and learning environment, advising departmental leadership and fostering a positive safety culture. It monitors training, audits, emergency preparedness, and incident reporting, while ensuring effective communication and coordination across shared spaces. The Committee also supports continuous improvement through regular reviews and engagement with staff representatives.

Equality, Diversity and Inclusion

Equality, Diversity and Inclusion Subcommittee

To ensure the CEP becomes a more equitable, transparent, diverse and inclusive workplace. To that end, it will work to achieve Athena Swan accreditation, create and oversee systems for support and development of early career researchers, develop procedures and materials for sexual harassment, bullying and discrimination.

Sustainability Committee
Sustainability Committee 

To consider the latest research and trends in sustainability assessment, developments in methodologies and tools and build a vibrant sustainability discourse in the Department. To identify and encourage pro-environmental behaviours and Departmental policies in travel, procurement, waste management. To consider dynamic interactions and cooperative behaviours more generally.
